Introduction To Thoughts

"We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.” – Swami Vivekananda

Thoughts can be described as mental pictures, ideas, information, belief, emotions etc experienced by a person at a particular point of time.

Thoughts form the major activity of the human mind. It is said that on an average a person experiences around 6200 thoughts per day.

These thoughts can be some events about the past, present or the future. Thoughts can also be positive or negative thoughts. It is said that thoughts has the power to shape your destiny. Your present situation is the outcome of the thoughts that you had been carrying with you all along in your past.

The person who you are likely to become in the future is determined by the quality of the thoughts that you carry in your life. Successful people tries to consistently vibrate with positive thoughts like love, peace, happiness, joy, gratitude, forgiveness etc. They try to eliminate all the negative thoughts like worry, fear, anxiety, anger, guilt, shame etc that held them back in their life.

Each thought is said to trigger a certain chemical within the body. The cells within the body react to the chemical that is generated by the thought. Positive thoughts generates hormones like dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin etc which are also known as the feel good hormones and which have a positive effect on the cells of the body.

Thinking is the process of generating thoughts. Thinking can be of different types. Some of them are calculation, evaluation, analysis, reasoning, judgement, critical thinking, lateral thinking, rational thinking, emotional thoughts etc.

We would be understanding more about the different types of thoughts, the science behind thoughts and also about Visualization in our subsequent blogs.
